ATLANTA-Home Depot is building on its design strengths and on close-to-home global growth for the rest of the year.
At his first annual stockholders’ meeting for the company, which was held here last week, Robert Nardelli, president and chief executive officer, outlined an optimistic, diverse strategy called “Getting It Done In 2001.”
The company’s three-tier Strategic Operating and Resource Planning (SOAR) initiative focuses on new-store growth, increasing comparable-store sales and adjacency.
Nardelli said the company will roll out 18 new Expo Design Centers this year, representing a 70 percent increase in the number of stores. “Consumers love the concept of seven or eight stores under one roof,” he said
